    Taken on a research expedition, this photo demonstrates the immense black carbon particle problem on at-risk tropical glaciers. While global warming is affecting the lives and viability of tropical glaciers in the Peruvian Andes, so are local practices and customs, including slash and burn agriculture. These particles are thought by scientists to take decades off of the lives of already diminishing glaciers in the region.
