Beluga Whales in Hudson Bay Estuary!
Saving Our Oceans: In the estuary of the Churchill River on Hudson Bay on the Arctic Ocean more than 57,000 beluga whales gather each spring when the ice breaks up. And in the fall polar bears gather on the shore of the Bay waiting for the pack ice to form so they can go seal hunting which is the mainstay of their diet. With global warming and the warming of the Arctic Ocean we are seeing a loss of sea ice and the ice is forming later in the season keeping the bears on shore longer.
