I always thought this lady was contemplative; but actually she seems to be watching something -a little resentfully? from an unseen position. Opposite where she is was a big white sheet covering a pile of fuel for the kilns, the reflection of light from this helps to define her features. Sometimes with darker skins, it is hard to see facial features. I love her neat pearl ear ring picked out and her neat hair. Something about her tells me she could be quite a steely lady.
