The Killing Fields, Up Close & Personal
The Killing Fields are a number of sites in Cambodia where approximately 2.5 million people (over 30% of the population) were killed and buried by the Khmer Rouge regime as part of a broad state-sponsored genocide in the 1970’s. Rather than shoot the large pyramid of skulls at the national memorial site, I decided on a more minimalist approach - bringing the horror of what happened up close and personal - for greater impact.
