Brauning, originally from Germany, was planning to travel the entire New Zealand when I met her in Christchurch. She has traveled to many countries including Japan, Britain, France, and many more. Traveling alone, even in this modern age, can be dangerous especially for women. We often hear cases of female travelers getting verbally-abused or sexually-attacked in many parts of the world. Brauning can be an example for women to be independent and bold.
