Being a teenage can be hard-- being a teenager who lost a mother to cancer can be even harder. Katherine, 13, stands in her driveway, her old playset behind her and her new skateboard under her arm. Her father told me she hadn't played in the playset since her mother had died. Watching Katherine navigate their daily life of a teenager today without a mother present made me admire her strong will, optimism and general attitude toward life.
