The Bern Cathedral (Münster), in the old city of Bern, is the most impressive example of Late Gothic architecture. Its construction started in 1421 and the bell tower was finally completed in 1893. It is the most important late medieval church in Switzerland. It was awarded Unesco World Heritage status in 1983.
