    I scouted this shot the day before, but at low tide. To ensure I could get the right effect I needed the surf to be midway up the rocks. Even with tide charts I didn't know when that was. There are cliffs behind me like the one here. The day of I got on the beach when the tide was up but not quite high tide. I had prepared myself and had food and water as I got trapped, literally, with my back to the wall for hours waiting on the surf to recede. I spent an hour in the water to get the shot.
