Scyphozoa
A scyphozoan (true jellyfish) species at the Mote Marine Aqurium
The specific species of scyphozoa is Stomolophus meleagris or the cannonball jellyfish. Found in estuarian waters pretty much worldwide these cnidarians are fairly common. In the South-eastern United States during the fall-summer they can make up 16% of the biomas found in the shallow inshore areas.
