Abel - The mountain lion. Abel was our guide on the trek. His great grandfather was the fifth person to ever ascend Kilimanjaro. Like his ancestors before him, the mountain is his life. He told us that this ascent was his 971st and that he does around 50 treks up Kilimanjaro a year. Which when you think that each trip takes roughly a week it means that he doesn't get much time to see his family and raises a few questions of the ethics of this sort of tourism for the natives.
