Buddha’s golden leafs
This photo is from our visit to one of the lacquerware workshops, where gold leaf was being affixed to boxes, trays and bangles as decoration. You can see the final stage of packaging gold leaf. The work is completed indoors by women employees. Burmese cover the Buddha statues with a thin golden leaf to honour Buddha's teachings. Some believe that by placing a gold leaf on a certain parts of a Buddha image, it will help to cure their own pain in that area.
