2016 marked a year of many fires in Yellowstone National Park. Early morning rides in the northern range often lead to wildlife sightings; however on this morning we had to give pause on Blacktail Plateau to capture the smoky scene which gave great depth to this photo. We ran into a photographer who was very disappointed with the effects of the smoke on landscape shots. No doubt. However, we saw many opportunities for photos enhanced by the smoke and fire that capture a different Yellowstone.
