I looked up and discovered that the distinctive white beam of light originated from the opening in the cupola perched above the traditional site of Jesus' burial. I heard the guide explain that it was called the "Resurrection Rotunda". I felt like a stranger in my jeans and blouse amidst the bustling monks and nuns in the cavernous sanctuary. I had quite a bit of discomfort as ordinary individuals bowed to various images, tearfully kissed old marble and essentially gave their due.
