I'm not a morning person. But there are some days when I decide that it's time to shoot some sunrise pictures. Living in Windward Oahu 20 minutes from Kualoa Beach park, I got in the car at 5AM and headed out. Usually I kind of know what and where I want to shoot, but this time I didn't. I was the only one at the beach, so I was just walking around looking for foreground. At one point I stopped by this "monster" looking tree root and I just saw something... a black soul striving for sunshine.
