FISHERMAN ON THE LI RIVER
As the sun rises on the Li River in Guilin, China and the early morning light against the Karsts, creates stunning shadows and mirrorlike images on the very still water, the elderly fisherman sets out on his raft with his cormorants birds, lantern and basket fishing in the traditional style of the ancient fisherman. A rope is tied around the neck of the bird so he doesn't swallow the fish. He divesinto the water and brings up his catch. This method is no longer used by the younger fisherman.
I like Your Shot photographer Shivesh Ram's comment: "Fantastic capture Leslie. I've been to the same place and loved it. The fisherman are fascinating. I don't encounter too many people who have traveled to 140 countries. My travels have taken me to about the same. But so much more to see... Photography helps capture those wonderful memories and stories."
